About Me

Welcome!

My name is Amber (she/her) and I am particularly passionate about helping individuals navigate identity in a culture that doesn’t always create space for difference, pain, and vulnerability.  I love helping people, especially young adults, women, and fellow healers peel away society’s messages about who they are or should be and find out who they have truly been all along.  I am skilled at seeing the unrealized gifts in others and don’t often use “therapist speak” and am intentional about offering my real, human self. My therapeutic style is participatory — I see myself as a co-creator with you in creating the kind of life you want for yourself and your family.

I enjoy introducing creative modalities, including but not limited to art, writing, mindfulness, movement, nature, sensory interventions, sandtray, and play.  I also enjoy incorporating neuroscience in the therapy room, making what we know about the brain accessible to the individuals with whom I work.  You are the expert of your own experience and I want to share tools with you that can help you arrive at your chosen destination. You are welcome here, just as you are, and I am excited to meet you.

To borrow the words of Brene Brown, my goal in the therapy room is to  “create a space… where all.. can walk in and, for that hour, take off the crushing weight of their armor, hang it on a rack, and open their hearts to truly being seen.”

Peace of the Wild Things

“When despair for the world grows in me
and I wake in the night at the least sound
in fear of what my life and my children’s lives may be,
I go and lie down where the wood drake
rests in his beauty on the water, and the great heron feeds.
I come into the peace of wild things
who do not tax their lives with forethought
of grief. I come into the presence of still water.
And I feel above me the day-blind stars
waiting with their light. For a time
I rest in the grace of the world, and am free.”

“Come, come, whoever you are,
wanderer, worshiper, lover of leaving,
it doesn't matter.
Ours is not a caravan of despair.
Come, even if you have broken your vow a hundred times.
Come, come again, come.”

I’m happy to offer a free 30 minute consultation to see if we would be a good fit.
